John-David Biggs is presently preparing a major portrait exhibition of remarkable men and women, to be held in London in 2010.


He specialises in portraits of individuals in their later years, usually in their seventies and eighties, and uses a unique combination of plate-camera technique, natural interior daylight and the platinum palladium printing process. The resulting portraits reveal a great depth of character and a very real sense of presence.


There is presently a limited opportunity to nominate individuals for portraiture to be included in this exhibition, and the accompanying book.


Private commissions are also undertaken.

Platinum Portraits


This portrait is of John Skelton MBE (1923-1999), letter carver and sculptor.


Some of Skelton's most significant public commissions were for the cathedrals of Chichester (the font, 1983); Norwich (Our Lady of Pity Sculpture, 1967-8); Salisbury (inscriptions); and Winchester (inscriptions and side altar).


Also of special note are the memorials to the great generals of World War 11 in St Paul's Cathedral Crypt, London, and the tablet commemorating a member of the ship's company of the Mary Rose in Portsmouth Cathedral.
