Welcome

Welcome to this growing collection of Peaceful Pictures by John-David Biggs.

They are the result of a natural response to living in the Kent countryside, where every day nature and light weave a fresh dance of shape and colour. For some time now I've been sending one of these images every week to friends, colleagues and acquaintances.

Increasingly I'm being asked for particular kinds of pictures, whether flowers, sunsets, meadows, seascapes, or pictures in black and white.

So here you will find the full collection, being added to almost every day.

You may print or forward any of these images for your personal use free of charge, and if you wish to buy a high resolution file or print just follow the appropriate menus.

Enjoy!

About John-David Biggs

Portrait Artist and Photographer

Welcome to my site today.

I have two abiding interests in life, people and light. I was born of artist parents, Michael and Frances Biggs, in Dublin in 1954, and have been told that my first words were, with my finger pointed at a light hanging from the ceiling, "That's a light". My journey from those early years has included stage lighting, self taught photography, tv camerawork, film making, the study of Sanskrit Philosophy and portraiture.

I am presently engaged in preparing a major exhibition of plate camera, platinum palladium printed portraits of men and women in their later years, to be held in London in 2010.

In the meantime, having lived in Kent for a couple of years now, I am enjoying the seasons, the light and shade, and the sounds of country living. I have begun sharing the landscape and flower pictures I've been taking with a growing circle of friends and acquaintances, and this web site has come into being to spread these pictures further afield. It also gives me an opportunity to display and explain the style of plate camera portraiture I so love to do.

You will find opportunities to browse the galleries, to enjoy free downloads of selected desktop and wallpaper images, and to purchase high resolution files for your own personal printing requirements.

You can also find out how to commission a portrait, and what's involved for the sitter concerned.

You may even wish to nominate a personal hero, friend or professional contemporary to be included in the London exhibition.

And don't forget - you can receive a free Peaceful Picture every Monday morning by email, to start your week.

Enjoy!

With best wishes,

John-David Biggs
